The School of Dance staged its early summer production “Off the Sky” featuring four dances in five performances from May 22 to 25.
One of the dances was “Noodle Dance” that Australian contemporary dance choreographer Leigh Warren, who was once a visiting professor at TNUA, created in 2018. Warren returned to TUNA to help Prof. Chiang Chiou-O and Wu Chien-wei recreate “Noodle Dance” for a performance by students.
“Whispering Currents” by Hui-Chen Tsai was a dance highlighting the conflicts and tensions hidden under a seemingly rhythmic calm of a group.
Another dance, “Tour,” was created by Chia-Ching Shu, who was inspired by the festivities of spring outings. The dancers’ youthfulness was manifested in their movements on the stage.
“Wicked Fish” was a recreation of a dance that Huang Yi had choreographed for Cloud Gate 2 in 2009. The dancers danced to the music composed by Iannis Xenakis.
