“Uncharted Narratives,” an exhibition jointly curated by TNUA’s SAC program and Taipei’s Treasure Hill Artist Village, opened on December 12.
Running until January 7, the exhibition at the Treasure Hill Artist Village results from a hands-on curatorial project by students of the “Curatorial Seminar – Curating The Space for Art Exhibitions,” led by Prof. Chang I-Wen. The course is part of a broader introduction to art exhibition curation at TNUA, in collaboration with the Treasure Hill Artist Village.
The organizing team includes SAC graduate students from Taiwan, Brazil, Mexico, Britain and the Philippines, as well as other artists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Chang thanked the students of the seminar, the Treasure Hill Artist Village and all others involved in materializing the exhibition.
Tai Hsiao-Tzu, head of promotion for the artist village, also thanked the TNUA team for holding the exhibition at Treasure Hill. Tai noted that she was impressed by the students’ artistic skills and multiple capabilities.
Prof. Lin Ya-tin, Dean of TNUA’s Office of International Affairs, also attended the opening ceremony.
“Uncharted Narratives” explores how we negotiate the nexus of memory, technology and space in a world shaped by rapid technological advancements, dynamic landscapes, and intricate cultural relationships. The exhibition explores tensions between longing and progress, exposure and control, and the real and digital worlds. Featuring multidisciplinary works such as interactive installations, sound art, video, and eco-material assemblages, this curatorial practice brings together three perspectives: “We Will Not Yearn for This,” “Constructed Realities,” and “Memories in Time.”
Situated within the unconventional spaces of Treasure Hill Artist Village, the exhibition challenges audiences to critically engage with their surroundings and reconsider their roles within ever-evolving narratives of space, identity, and existence.
