The multinational Shared Campus project held its second strategy board meeting at the Tokyo University of the Arts in late June.

The project’s first strategy board meeting took place at TNUA in 2023, and earlier this year in February, the board held an online meeting.

Representatives attending the 2nd Shared Campus Strategy Board Meeting 2024 at Geidai from June 26 to 28 included: Karin Mairitsch, President of Zurich University of the Arts; Katsuhiko Hibino and Yusaku Imamura, president and vice president of Geidai, respectively; Johnny Poon, Associate Vice-President of Hong Kong Baptist University; Venka Purushothaman, Deputy President and Provost of LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore; and Espen Aarseth, Dean of School of Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong.

Shared Campus is a cooperation platform founded by 13 leading arts universities, schools and colleges for international education and research. It offers international connections to enhance the learning and research of students, educators, researchers and professionals. The platform has a distinct focus on transcultural issues and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and the collaboration between the members offers a wide range of activities, including semester programs, summer schools, courses, workshops, networking events, symposia, festivals, publications and a collaborative learning platform.

TNUA President Prof. Chen Kai-Huang and Dean of International Affairs Prof. Yatin Lin met with other representatives to the board meeting on June 26 to share opinions on the management and development of the Share Campus project. On June 27, there were three group discussions about the future of the project in three different themes: “Simple & Sustainable – Shared Campus as a Method,” “Agile Network & Situated Practices – Shared Campus as Hubs,” and “The Cyber School Experience – Shared Campus as Virtual Reality.”

Apart from the meetings, the representatives were also shown around the Geidai campus. One of the facilities they visited was Geidai Beya, a community project room that was just unveiled in April.

Geidai President Katsuhiko Hibino also extended an invitation to all Shared Campus members, asking their students to take part in the “A7-Shared Campus Exhibition
‘World Peace’” metaverse art exhibition running from November 2024 to May 2025. The entry deadline is September 30.
