The 2023 Guandu Bird Art has officially begun with organizers extending an invitation to all citizens to a series of activities and festivals highlighting the local culture and ecology throughout October.
The activities include the Guandu International Nature Art Festival, the Taipei International Birdwatching Fair, and the Fun Guandu, with activities ranging from exhibitions, flea markets and DIY workshops.
The organizers, including the Taipei City Government and TNUA, held a press conference on October 4 announcing the start of this year’s Guandu Bird Art.
TNUA started a campaign several years ago calling for communities in the Guandu area to take part in a festival – Fun Guandu – held on the last Saturday of October every year to promote the local culture. The campaign has received a lot of support from various institutions over the years.
TNUA Secretary General Yung-Feng Chung, who heads the Guandu Culture and Arts Foundation, noted that Fun Guandu is marking its ninth anniversary this year, and the 2023 edition places an emphasis on the connection between food and family.
Last year, the annual Kuan Du Light Art Fesitval organized by the TNUA Department of New Media Art collaborated with Fun Guandu to put on an off-campus show of lights in the open air. The 2023 edition of the light art festival will feature 11 pieces of art at the Zhonggang Pier from October 28 to November 12 to highlight concerns about sustainability.
