“TNUA New Music Workshop South Korea Pre-departure Concert,” one of the highlights of the 2023 Kuandu Arts Festival, showcased a number of works created by up-and-coming composers from TNUA and Seoul National University (SNU) on November 13.

The concert, which was held at the TNUA Concert Hall, summed up the achievements of a new music workshop led by Prof. Mei-Fang Lin.

Five nature-themed works were presented in the concert: “String Quartet” composed by TNUA student Lee Wei-Lin is a piece of traditional music; “Chorda” by SNU doctoral student Chul Lee combines the beauty of the harp, viola and flute; “E Tribus Punctis” by SNU graduate student Intae Choi reflects on the intricate connections in life; “Raindrops on Cracked Mud” by TNUA alumna Yi-Ting Lu plays the piano like a piece of percussion instrument to evoke the images of rain hitting the ground; and “Seven Days of Sakura” by TNUA doctoral student Chih-Yun Wang depicts the five stages of the sakura’s life cycle.
