Diabolo Dance Theatre was established in 1986, a group of young diabolo artists came together to share their passion. Based on their technical skills and artistic creativity, they sought a new style of performance to take diabolo dance beyond imagination.
DDT has performed more than 300 shows in over 20 countries worldwide, including at landmark theaters and arenas such as the Taipei National Theater, New York Lincoln Center, Hummingbird Arts Center in Canada, and Aichi Expo Dome in Japan.
Liu Le Chun（劉樂群）& Pang Kuo Hwa（邊國華）, the founder and producer of the Diabolo Dance Theatre accordingly, met with the course’s international students last Friday. They opened up to students about their business secrets and the confidential “Diabolo Performance BIBLE,” revealing all the difficulties and solutions of running a unique diabolo theatre in Taiwan.
The students had a chance to experience the diabolos themselves for the first time. As a result, it is not as easy as it looks when it comes to practice, and acknowledge this intangible cultural heritage with great respect.
