TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund, and the embassies of Nicaragua, Honduras and Haiti in late September, aiming to attract more students from Latin America.
Accompanying Prof. Yang to the visits were Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Liu Hsi-Chuan and Prof. Lin Ya- Tin, chairperson of the International Master of the Arts Program in Cultural and Creative Industries (IMCCI).The TNUA delegation showed the Latin American diplomats the achievements and resources of TNUA, allowing them to have a better understanding of the university.
The visitors and their hosts talked about the possibilities of cultural and artistic exchanges, including the ambassadors’ visits to TNUA and overseas summer workshops.
On Oct. 13, Prof. Gerónimo Laviosa, rector of Paraguay’s Universidad Nacional del Este, visited TNUA, meeting with Prof. Yang. They discussed future cooperation between the two schools.
Prof. Laviosa noted that his university is a member of a regional alliance of national universities. The alliance consists of universities from other countries, such as Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Bolivia.
The alliance members run exchange programs among their students and teachers, and also recognize the credits and programs of one another’s.
Extending a warm welcome to the guest of honor, Prof. Yang gave Prof. Laviosa an introduction to TNUA. Prof. Yang explained that the IMCCI is a program with an integrated focus on both art and the cultural creative industry.
It is a program where all courses are taught in English, and many of its students are from Latin America, Prof.
Yang noted.
