TNUA is offering a course in the form of a series of workshops by Prof. Randy Finch this school year aiming to provide the training that students need to become professionals in the audio-visual content industry.
Prof. Finch's "Digital Media Entrepreneurship: A Multi-Disciplinary Educational Program for 21st Century Motion Picture Creators and Business Innovators" is supported by a Ministry of Education program for upgrading Taiwan's human resources.
The multi-disciplinary course intends to prepare students for the "new century" film industry. Students will learn all the skills and knowledge in terms of story-telling, business negotiations, technology, legal matters and others that they need to work in a new business ecosystem in the film industry.
Prof. Finch said the workshops offered this school year cover a wide range of topics, such as conventional film narrative, history of the film industry, the Internet, software apps, and how technology changes film.
There will be a part in the course that will discuss the differences between the productions and sources of incomes for the conventional and emerging film businesses. This part will arrange discussions through Skype among personnel from conventional studios, such as Warner Bros., Central Pictures Corp., and emerging film production companies, such as Maker Studios, Buzzfeed Motion Pictures and Amazon, according to Prof. Finch.
Prof. Finch said in the fast changing Information Age, the audio-visual content and media industries are facing major changes and challenges. But such changes and challenges promise new business opportunities, he stressed.
