"Start: 2015 Kuandu Arts Festival" has begun with a bang, featuring performances, exhibitions and various other activities throughout October.

In a pre-event press conference held on September 15, TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen introduced the festival to the public.

The press conference was also attended by representatives from Hong Kong, Japan and France, whose artists, performers and musicians are among more than 30 groups from around the world featured in one of Taiwan’s most important arts festivals.

Participants of the festival – from Taiwan, Japan, Canada, the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Hong Kong and China – will put up a total 48 cross-disciplinary performances.

Prof. Yang noted that the Kuandu Arts Festival is the most important annual event that TNUA hosts.  Over the years, October has been the busiest month, during which both the students and teachers can gain experience, learning how to arrange arts events of this scale.

He pointed out that this year's event has a strong focus on both international and local links. For the first time ever, the festival will arrange a major event, "Fun Kuandu," featuring local partners from the neighboring Shihlin, Beitou and Tamsui areas on October 31.

The opening activity was a production of Donizetti's opera "L'elisir d'amore" jointly, presented by TNUA's Department Music, Department of Theatre Design and Technology, and Department of Dance.
