Prof. Yang Chyi-Wen has been sworn in as president of the Taipei National University of the Arts.

Prof. Yang was sworn in together with his counterparts from five other universities at a ceremony arranged by the Ministry of Education arranged on August 1.

During the ceremony presided over by Deputy Education Minister Chen I-Hsing, Prof. Yang received the TNUA Presidential Seal from the outgoing TNUA President Prof. Ju, Tzong-Ching.

Back on the campus, TNUA arranged its own ceremony both to thank the old president, Prof. Ju, and to welcome the new president, Prof. Yang. 
The carnival-like ceremony started with a traditional Taiwanese music and dance performance. It was followed by a parade of by a large group of TNUA staff and students, who first marched to the Department of Theatrical Design and Technology to ask Prof. Yang to join them. They then paraded to the Administrative Building, where Prof. Ju was waiting to join them.       

The procession then went on to the Concert Hall, where Prof. Yang was sworn in at a ceremony witnessed by teachers, students and guests of honors.

Prof. Ju expressed his gratitude to all the teachers and students, as well as people from all walks of life, for their support, during his stint as TNUA's president. He believes that TNUA will achieve all its goals under Prof. Yang's leadership.

Prof. Yang said that becoming the president of TNUA means not just honor, but also commitment and responsibility. 

He noted that all of his predecessors have managed to establish a unique status for TNUA over the past 31 years, and it is his mission to let TNUA continue to grow and make further contributions to arts and culture, as well as society in general.
