TNUA took part in the Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) earlier this year to showcase its art publications, as well as its educational achievements over the last three decades.
It was the second time that TNUA has exhibited at TIBE – which is one of the most important book fair in the world – to increase the university's international visibility.
This year, TNUA's “Sky-2011” – a book designed by the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts (KdMoFA) – was the only Taiwan publication nominated for the exhibition's Golden Butterfly Award for publishing art.
TNUA's warm reception by visitors and the publication industry at last year's TIBE came as an encouragement for its continued participation in the book fair this year – this time with six other top Taiwan universities.
At the fair, which ran from January 31 till February 4, TNUA displayed a wide range of publications covering such fields as music, theatre, dance, fine arts, film, new media and cultural resources.
TNUA also arranged three forums to engage authors and critics in discussions that also gave general readers glimpses into the world of art.
One of the forums saw a conversation between Prof. Li-Li Yang and theatre director Yen, Hung-Ya on the former's book on French director Antoine Vitez. Another was held between Prof. Chiu, Kun-Liang, writer Jade Y. Chen and Prof. Huang, Chien-Yeh on Chiu's book on the relationships between politics and theatre.
The third forum featured a discussion on art between Chen, Chin-Cheng, executive director of the National Culture and Arts foundation; Prof. Pan, Hwang-Long and Prof. Wang Tung (both from TNUA); and director Lee, Hsiao-Ping from the GuoGuang Opera Company.
