Prof. Hsi-Chuan Liu became President of TNUA on August 1. An inauguration ceremony was held at TNUA, gathering together more than 100 guests of honor from the academic, government and industry sectors, as well as the University’s staff and students.

Earlier, Prof. Liu received TNUA’s presidential seal at a separate ceremony held at the Ministry of Education, marking the beginning of his stint as the University’s new president.

Minister of Education Cheng Ying-Yao, who presided over the ceremony at the Ministry of Education, noted that higher education now faces many challenges. As various industries expand their global reach, active efforts must be made to recruit outstanding teachers, whether they are local or foreign scholars, as long as they can contribute to the school's development and training of students.

The minister also pointed out that with the rapid development of the AI technology industry, Taiwan must also accelerate its development in various fields, whether in science and technology or even humanities and social sciences, to enable cooperation between industries in research and development, as well as talent incubation. It is also necessary to combine regional resources to develop the characteristics of each school.

At the inauguration ceremony at TNUA, which featured dance and music performances, Prof. Liu thanked all the TNUA staff for their years of devotion to the development of the University’s character. He said TNUA’s sustainable development needs the participation of all at the University.

Prof. Liu also noted that TNUA faces both internal and external challenges, and needs to address the needs of Generation Z students, and the new interpretations of art in the market. He said it takes the collective work of the entire teaching and administration staff to navigate the journey ahead.

With specialties in printmaking and computer graphics, Prof. Liu has been devoted to art education and management for years. He started his teaching career at TNUA in 2005, and has since served as Chairperson of the Department of Fine Arts, Dean of the School of Fine Arts, and Dean of Academic Affairs.
