TNUA President Prof. Chen Kai-Huang signed the MOU at a ceremony along with his counterparts from the 13 universities – Central Police University, Hungkuang University, National Pingtung University, the National Taipei University of Business, the National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences, Tatung University, Fu Jen Catholic University, National Dong Hwa University, National Taiwan Sport University, Chung Yuan Christian University, I-Shou University, the Chaoyang University of Technology, Chinese Culture University, the University of Taipei, National Ilan University, National Chiayi University, the National University of Kaohsiung, National Chi Nan University, and the Tainan National University of the Arts. A representative from the German Institute Taipei also attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, NLMA Director General Wu Hsin-Hsou noted that the construction of a road infrastructure that is safe for everyone to use involves the expertise of many domains, such as project planning, as well as the awareness among users of safe driving and road safety education. The NLMA-initiated campaign aims to integrate resources from the government, academic and private sectors to develop talent for designing “human-oriented streets.”

Wu said NLMA welcomes the participation of any academic institutions in the campaign. Technical University Berlin has already signed up for the program, sharing the German experience through symposiums, research projects and exchanges to be organized in the future.
