The 2024 summer camp arranged by TNUA’s Art Service team ended on July 19 after five days of fun and learning. The activity, which started on July 14 with a theme centering around the Tsou people’s legend of “Animal Spring,” offered art classes and arranged activities for the children of the Lalauya community in Alishan.

For the summer camp, the Art Service team started recruiting members right after the winter break early this year. The team members kept themselves busy making preparations for the activity throughout the semester. They partnered with Dalan, the indigenous students’ society at TNUA, to design the art classes. Cultural elements of different indigenous peoples in Taiwan were incorporated into the classes to enrich the children’s learning.

Apart from teaching the children, the Art Service team also spent time during the night with the elders of the community, learning how to make traditional handicraft items. They also enjoyed BBQ and hotpot dinners with the members of the community.
