A group of more than 40 international students from TNUA experienced the local Hakka culture in Miaoli on a trip jointly organized by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) and the school’s international students society on March 16.

The students come from various countries, including France, the Netherlands, Guatemala, Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, and China.

The OIA noted that many international students come to Taiwan not only for academic purposes, but also for the opportunities of experiencing the diverse local cultures. Apart from the cultural excursions, OIA also regularly arranges other cultural activities to mark Taiwan’s festivals, such as the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The March 16 excursion was meant to give the international students a better understanding of the different cultures of different regions in Taiwan, and to encourage them to incorporate the local cultures into their artistic creations.

During the one-day trip, the students got to visit the Taiwan Hakka Museum and Flying Cow Ranch.
