A delegation from Australia’s Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education visited TNUA on December 14.

The Batchelor Institute visitors included Jude Lovell, acting director of the Graduate School, Derrick Hunt, Evelyn Schaber and Adam Stanton. They were also accompanied by Erna Liljie from Wereldmuseum Rotterdam and Marenka Thompson-Odlum from Pitt Rivers Museum, as well as Pagung Tomi from Taiwan’s indigenous Atayal people.

They received a warm welcome from TNUA President Prof. Chen Kai-Huang, Indigenous Students Resource Center Director Yih-Ren Lin, and the International MA Program in Studies of Art and Creative Industries (SAC) Chairperson I-Wen Chang. Both sides discussed matters concerning future collaborations.

Batchelor Institute is the only dual-sector, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tertiary education and training provider in Australia.

The visitors also met Minang, a group of indigenous students at TNUA. During the meeting, Minang shared their experience of going on a performance tour in Northern Europe during the summer.
