The recipients of the honorary doctorates are: Music scholar Chuei-kuan Lu, conductor Lu Shao-chia and ceramics entrepreneur Kuang-Ching Lin.

The 18 recipients of the outstanding alumni awards graduated respectively from the School of Music, School of Fine Art, School of Theatre Arts, School of Dance, School of Film and New Media, and School of Culture Resources.

During the conferment ceremony, TNUA President Prof. Chen Kai-Huang lauded the achievements of the honorary doctorate recipients and the outstanding alumni in their respective fields.

Prof. Chen noted that their achievements in performances, creative work and research have injected tremendous artistic energy into TNUA and Taiwan as a whole, and they have been role models and inspirations for young artists.

Prof. Chen stressed that TNUA was honoring these recipients for their long devotions to their respective fields, which have enriched TNUA’s art education and society.

One of the honorary doctorate recipients, music scholar Prof. Chuei-kuan Lu, said art needs hard work to perfect it. He said he hopes the Department of Traditional Music can set up an art center for promoting Nanguan and Beiguan music.

Prof. Lu Shao-chia said music conducting has always been his favorite work, and he thanked TNUA for conferring on him the honorary doctorate. He said students of art have to fully devote themselves and believe in the value of art.

Ceramics entrepreneur Mr. Kuang-Ching Lin said it’s the honor of his life to receive the honorary doctorate. He hopes ceramics can serve as a vehicle with which to convey the beauty of Taiwanese culture.

The outstanding alumni awards recipients are: Cheng Ya-Li, Cheng Li-Pin and Chinhsin Huang from the School of Music; Hou Chun-Ming, Yang Maolin and Lishan Chang from the School of Fine Arts; Lin Heng-Cheng, Luo Yijun and Sun Ruey-Horng from the School of Theatre Arts; Yu Tsai-Chin, Chou Chang-Ning and Chen Chiu-Yin from the School of Dance; Lin Kun-Ying, Anchi Shen and Lin Chun Yang from the School of Film and New Media; Sun Hua-xiang, Yi-Mei Liao and Lee Ching-hwi from the School of Culture Resources.
