To demonstrate TNUA’s achievements under the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education SPROUT Project, the Office of Academic Affairs has arranged a series of activities, including exhibitions and performances.

The activities showcase how TNUA, through the power of art education, has managed to enlist internal and outside resources to support various projects covering different age groups and regions.

An event presenting the achievements on March 14 at the international convention center was attended by TNUA administrators, students and guests from other schools, including: Tsai Cheng-hsiung, principal of Tienkuang Elementary School in Kuanshan, Taitung County; Prof. Li-Hsueh Wu, vice dean of academic affairs at National Taiwan University of Arts; and Lin Shih-lien, director of the teaching resource center at the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts.

There was an audio-visual performance by TNUA students at the event, plus a showing of a film documenting the school’s achievements in teaching, research, exhibitions and performances over the years.

TNUA President Prof. Chen Kai-Huang, who is in charge of the SPROUT project, noted that TNUA has long been paying close attention to the development of contemporary, modern and future art.

Over the past two years the COVID-19 impacts have driven the integration of art and technology, he said. It is TNUA’s mission to help art achieve sustainable development, allowing art workers to see the possibility of future development.

Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Shao-Ren Lin noted that TNUA’s SPROUT project emphasizes changes in line with the Ministry of Education’s goals of elevating teaching quality, developing schools’ characteristics, increasing higher education’s public connections, and embracing social responsibility.

Attending the event also included: Prof. Shien-Ta Su, dean of the School of Music; Prof. Hsi-Chuan Liu, dean of the School of Fine Arts; Prof. Shih-Hsing Wang, dean of the School of Theatre Arts; Prof. Hsiao-mei Ho, dean of the School of Dance; Prof. Der-Lor Way, dean of the School of Film and New Media; Prof. Cheng-Wei Lin, dean of the School of Cultural Resources; and Prof. Wu Huai-chen, dean of the School Humanities. They all showed support for the sustainable development of art.

An outdoor “market” was also arranged, featuring teams from TNUA and outside institutions in educational and fun activities, such as the “Underground Studio” DIY workshop.
