The 2021 edition of the annual Kuan-Du Film Festival will be organized entirely by TNUA students.

The festival is being organized by the students of the Department of Filmmaking at TNUA, aiming to allow both the undergraduate and graduate students to directly participate in and better understand the planning and organizing of the annual event. It aims to promote their exchange with film schools from other countries during the various activities of the festival, so as to broaden their horizons.

The festival is an important opportunity for the students to share their ideas and thoughts with the audience and to interact with others outside of the department.

The event this year will continue to feature an exhibition of outstanding works by students from film and television-related departments at local universities – a major part of the festival since 2016.

The festival has in the past been engaged in exchange with film schools from Korea, Thailand, India, France, Poland, the UK, Japan, Israel, the Czech Republic, Mexico, and other countries. Last year, it worked with international film festivals for the first time, exchanging films with three organizations, including Malaysia’s SeaShorts Film Festival, Hong Kong’s ifva Festival, and the Kaohsiung Film Festival.

For international exchange, the festival this year will screen works from the Graduate School of Film and New Media at Tokyo University of the Arts, and the Fukuoka Independent Film Festival (FIDFF).

Two special sessions will be organized for highlight the works of local artists. One of them will present outstanding short films made by “non-students” in recent years; the other will screen the early works of local female directors.
