TNUA and Musikhochschule Lübeck (MHL) have signed a memorandum of understanding, paving the way for cooperation between the two sides in arranging academic exchanges, exhibitions and performances.

With the signing of the MOU, which took place at TNUA on April 7, MHL has become the 47th sister school of TNUA. The MOU was signed by TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen and MHL Vice President Prof. Dieter Mack on behalf of their respective sides.

Witnessing the signing of the MOU were also Prof. Bernd Ruf from MHL and other TNUA administrators, including Vice President Prof. Chang Chung-Shiuan.

Prof. Yang noted that MHL started introducing crossover music courses more than a decade ago, and has been keen to promote international cooperation between arts institutions and schools.

Prof. Yang said he expects the signing of the MOU to enhance and expand exchanges between the two sides.

Prof. Mack stressed that cross-boundary art exchange is an inevitable trend and becoming a sister school of TNUA will facilitate cooperation between them.

Prof. Mack also gave two lectures during his visit to TNUA on the development of contemporary music in Europe and on trends of crossover music integration, respectively.

Prof. Ruf, a pioneer in promoting crossover between classical and popular music, conducted a series of intensive workshops on April 6 to 11 respectively for students from the Department of Music, and the IMPACT (Interdisciplinary Multimedia Performing Arts Collaborative Technology) music program.

The workshops were part of the preparations for a joint concert between MHL and TNUA musicians at the 2017 Kuandu Arts Festival in October.
