Australian contemporary choreographer Leigh Warren presented “Esprit de Corps” at the School of Dance 2016 Summer Concert in May – a work he created while teaching at the Department of Dance as a guest professor this school year.

Prof. Warren trained at the Australian Ballet School and later graduated to the Australian Ballet. Following a distinguished performing career with the Australian Ballet, Ballet Rambert, Nureyev & Friends and Nederlands Dans Theater, Prof. Warren was appointed artistic director of Australian Dance eatre in 1987.

He went on to launch his own company LWD in 1993, producing many original dance works, collaborating with distinguished choreographers and with many seminal Australian visual artists and musicians.

He is regularly invited to teach at dance institutions and conduct workshops around Australia and overseas, with his unique approach to training widely recognized for nurturing talented young dancers into polished professionals.

During his stay at TNUA, he has given lectures and conducted workshops. He has talked about his dual- role as choreographer and educator, and explained the di erences between his teaching experiences in Taiwan and Australia.

He said the vitality of his students in Taiwan not only motivated his teaching, but also inspired his creativity, with which he created “Esprit de Corps.”

His dance was presented at the School of Dance’s summer production staged at TNUA from May 26 to 29. The production also featured highlights from Prof. Lin Hwai-Min’s “Cursive” and Ms. Lin Yuju’s “A Little Bit of Nudity.”
