The International Exchange Center (IEC) held its first-ever Cultural Week in March, featuring stage performances and films from different countries, as well as food workshops and an exhibition showcasing the talents of TNUA’s foreign students.

The Cultural Week, which took place at the Office of International Affairs from March 14 to 18, was meant to create a collective memory of Taiwan among the foreign students through art and creativity.

Prof. Chi-Fang Chao, chief director of the IEC, said that 2016 marks the 10th anniversary since the center’s establishment in 2006. The university’s Foreign Student Affairs (FSA), a student group representing TNUA’s international students, was formed in 2008.

The IEC and the FSA, both of which have been working closely together to support the needs of TNUA’s foreign students, arranged the Cultural Week to demonstrate the cultural diversity at the university, Prof. Chao noted.

Two students from Malaysia who were put in charge of organizing the Cultural Week activities said the event was meant to create extraordinary memory for everyone involved and at the same time enhance the

understanding among each other. 

The opening ceremony on March 14 featured a dance by two Malaysian students, and a song by yet another Malaysian student.

Present at the opening ceremony were TNUA Prof. Yang Chyi Wen and other administrators, including: TNUA Vice President Prof. Chung-Shiuan Chang; Dean of Research and Development Prof. Shaw-Ren Lin; Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Liu Hsi-Chuan; Prof. Chien Lee-Zen, dean of the School of Theatre Arts; and P:rof. Wang YunYu, dean of the School of Dance.
