“Post-Adolescence,” an exhibition jointly curated by KdMoFA and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMFA), was moved to KdMoFa on May 28, presenting 72 works of art by 53 artists.
The displays were selected from almost 500 items by young artists, with an aim to represent the languages and views of different generations, as well as a common aspect of Taiwan’s young artists.
The exhibition, co-curated by two museums, has also set a good example of the integration of Taiwan’s cultural and education resources. Of the exhibitors, 27 were graduates of TNUA – which attests to the fact that TNUA is an important cradle for Taiwan’s art talents.
The selection process for “Post-Adolescence” was based on a program that NTMFA launched in 2005 for collecting young artists’ works of art. In order to give the best display of the items and to show the links between different generations, KdMoFA devotes all of its nine indoor exhibition rooms for the exhibition.
KdMoFA’s presentation of the show is different from that by NTMFA, offering a complete different style through ingenious spatial arrangement. The artists selected for the show include many who have rich experiences in taking part in exhibitions and/or have won awards, such as Yu Cheng-ta and Kuo I-chen, both of whom were featured in the Taiwan Pavilion of La Biennale di Venezia; Su Hui-yu, who has been nominated for the Taishin Arts Award.
Other award-winning artists include Huang Wei-Min, Chou Chu-wang, Chen Wan-Ren, Wang Pei-Ying, Tao Mei-Yu, Chen Jing-Yuan, Wang Ting-Yu and Wu Chi-Yu.
Exhibits in the show include paintings, engravings, sculptures, installation, video art and new media – a demonstration of the diversity of art expressions among Taiwan’s young artists.
TNUA President Prof. Ju Tzong-Ching and other officials from TNUA and NTMFA as well as students, attended a gathering marking the start of the exhibition at KdMoFA. TNUA students from the Department of Music also offered a performance.
“Post-Adolescence” will be running until August 8, 2010.
