“New Directions: Trans-Plex” brings together nine
artists from Japan and another nine from Taiwan
in an exploration of how individuals understand and
interact with the environment amid a cultural mix.
The exhibition space is intertwined with different
workshops to let the artists’ bodies and actions design
and intervene into “exchanges.”
The exhibition itself is a process of exchange, sponsored
by the National Culture and Arts Foundation and
assisted by the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts (KdMoFA),
which has allowed it to make a step towards internationalization.
The exhibition was conceived when the curator Goto
Shigeo tried to probe the possibility of an Asian platform.
The realization of this idea must also be credited to the
efforts of Prof. Chien-Hung Huang, as well as assistance
by TNUA and the Kyoto University of Art and Design.
