“Haiku-Sculpture 2011” is an exhibition conceived
by Prof. Kamijo Fumiho from the Sculpture Department
of the Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts
(OPUA). He loves haiku and tries to integrate the specific
Japanese poetic form into sculpture in a special kind of
representation.
In 2005, the first exhibition of representations was held
at OPUA. Apart from professors and students of OPUA, a
few artists from Thailand and Taiwan were also invited to
showcase their works. In 2007, more Japanese universities
were represented, and TNUA was also formally invited
for the first time to an event that involved six schools
from three countries.
This year, TNUA is the host of the exhibition – which
has expanded to 26 universities from Asia – as well as a
series of related symposiums. The exhibition will run until
June 19 at KdMoFA’s 1F.
