The 2015 KuanDu International Animation Festival is calling for entries to its KuanDog Prize.
The deadline for submission is July 1, with prize money totaling NT$150,000, according to the organizer, the TNUA Department of Animation.
The list of finalists will be announced by the end of August, and the selected entries will be screened during the festival, as well as in a tour around Taiwan.
The winners will be announced and the prizes presented at the closing ceremony of the festival.
The winner of Best International Animated Short Film prize will receive US$2,000 in cash plus a KuanDog sculpture – the symbol of the award. The winner of Best Student Animated Short Film prize will receive US$1,500 and a KuanDog.
The winner of Taiwan Special Prize – an award meant to encourage the local animation artists – will receive US$1,500 and a KuanDog.
This year, there will be several new prizes for some of the selected works.
The 2015 KuanDu International Animation Festival is scheduled to kick off with a bang in late October. Major activities will be held at TNUA's Ecological Arts Complex Movie Theatre.
Apart from the competition, animation films from around the world will also be screened during the nine-day festival. There will also be international master lectures, workshops, and discussion sessions featuring animation directors.
