German actor-director Ulrich Meyer-Horsch conducted a one-week workshop on Michael Chekhov's technique of acting at TNUA in March. 

A total of 15 students started training with Mr. Meyer-Horsch on March 16, exploring Chekhov's concept of "active waiting," as well as Bertolt Bretch's "Gestus towards the audience." 

Mr. Meyer-Horsch is a founder of Michael Chekhov Europe workshops. He is associate artistic director for the Kreuzgangspiele Feuchtwangen theatre festival in Germany (2014 to 2016).

He graduated from Schule für Schauspiel Hamburg with a degree in acting. He also holds degrees in theology, philosophy and theatre education from other universities. 

He studied under Chekhov's students, such as Hurt Hatfield, Hurt Hatfield, Deidre Hurst du Prey, Mala Powers and Joanna Merlin.

Mr. Meyer-Horsch has been active on stage for more than 20 years. As actor-director, he has worked in many different countries and with many different people, such as Simon McBurney and his Complicite troupe, Philippe Gaulier, Augusto Boal, Lorna Marshall and Yoshi Oida.

Since 1994, he has also been devoted to teaching, which has taken him to places across Europe, Brazil and the United States. He is currently a visiting lecturer at the University of Arts in Zurich and the Yeditepe University Istanbul in Turkey. He is also a teacher of MICHA (Michael Chekhov Association) in New York.

Mr. Meyer-Horsch's workshop at TNUA had the participants use Chekhov's technique to create the characters in Bretch's play, "The Caucasian Chalk Circle."
