Renowned musicians Ayrapetyan, Honn and Gusti at TNUA for Maestro Lecture Series
Three renowned musicians, Yury Ayrapetyan, Barbara Honn, and I Gusti Putu Sudarta, have been invited to TNUA for this semester’s Maestro Lecture Series. Pianist Prof. Ayrapetyan from the Moscow P. I.Tchaikovsky Conservatory gave a talk on November 24 and showed students the skills of piano playing. Prof.Ayrapetyan was a student of the Russian legendary
pianist Yakov Flier. An active soloist and educator, Prof.Ayrapetyan regularly performs in the United States and Europe, and he has also taught in France, Spain, Korea and Yugoslavia.Vocalist Prof. Honn from the University of Cincinnati began a two-week course on October 27 that also included lectures on “The Development of Vocal Pedagogy,” and “The Second Viennese School.” The focus of her two-week course was on vocal chamber music, which attracted the attendance of some 50 students majoring in vocal as well as instruments.The intensive course concluded with a performance by all of the participating students on November 6.Professor Gusti, a master of wayang kulit from Indonesia’s ISI Denpasar, together with TNUA Lecturer Lee Ching-huei, demonstrated the art of traditional Bali music.More than 30 students from the Department of Traditional Music attended the four-week course offered by the Indonesian master beginning on November 10.
On December 7, Prof. Gusti and the students also staged a performance.
School of Dance 2008 year-end production
The School of Dance 2008 year-end production will take place from December 18 to 21 at the TNUA Dance Hall.
