Two Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) administrators, Prof. Lauren Robel and Prof. Catherine E. Dyar received a warm welcome from TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen during their visit to explore further exchange opportunities between the two sides on May 22.
IUB Provost and Executive Vice President Prof. Robel and Chief of Staff Prof. Dyar also met other TNUA administrators, including: Prof, Hwei Jin Liu, dean of the School of Music; Prof. Yu-Pin Lin, chairperson of the Department of Theatre Arts; Prof. Shin-Hsing Wang, chief director of the Performing Arts Center; and Prof. Hung-Hui Lu, chief director of the International Exchange Center.
Prof. Yang noted that IUB is a university that offers strong programs in music, theatre, new media and film studies. Prof. Yang said he hope both sides can establish closer ties.
During the meeting, both sides also discussed plans for a strategic partnership, exchange programs, and other forms of cooperation.
Prof. Yang also invited Prof. Robel to visit again in October to take part in the Asian League of Institutes of the Arts (ALIA) summit hosted by TUNA.
Prof. Robel noted that it was her first visit to Taiwan and she had high expectations of cooperation with TNUA. She said she hoped her visit could open up opportunities for cooperation between the two universities.
The guests of honor were also shown around the campus. They also saw how students learned in an opera class, and how others made theatre props and costumes. Prof. Robel said she was deeply impressed by the learning environment at TNUA.
