TNUA staged a New Year show featuring dance and
music performance, as well as new media and ne
art elements, to entertain foreign dignitaries on
behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Aairs in Taipei in
February.
President Ma Ying-Jeou and first lady Christine
Chow were also among the guests of honor
attending the 2014 Spring Banquet, which was a
showcase of Taiwan's arts and culture, as well as a
New Year celebration.
The show was enabled by eorts of a team headed
by TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen. Other
members of the TNUA team included: Prof. Hwei Jin Liu, dean of the School of Music; Prof. MingShen
Ku, dean of the School of Dance; Prof. LeeZan
Chien, dean of the School of Theatre Arts; Prof.
Su-Chu Hsu, dean of the School of Film and New
Media; Dean of Research & Development Prof.
Shaw-Ren Lin; Secretary General Mey-Juane Kuo;
and Prof. Kuo-Hua Yu from the Graduate Institute of
Arts Administration and Management.
The show was a mix of traditional, modern,
eastern and western elements: the beiguan, the
pipa, percussion, dancing, new media, interactive
technology, laser, and many others.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of
the digitalized interactive version of a 408-feet long
print by the artist Lin Chih-hsin. It took the artist
20 years to make the world's longest print, which
depicts scenes of celebrations marking the Matsu
Festival, one of the most important religious events
in Taiwan.
It was the second time that TNUA has produced a
New Year show for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The last one took place in 2011.
