The Taichung Municipal Government has formally
put TNUA and Central Pictures Corporation (CPC) in
charge of jointly building and operating a lm park
in the city
The municipal government signed a contract with
TNUA and CPC on February 14, commencing a
project to construct the Central Taiwan Movie Park,
a lm center that will utilize smart technologies and
feature state-of-the-art facilities.
Taichung Mayor Jason Hu, speaking at the contractsigning
ceremony, noted that he is excited about
the project. He said he believes the collaboration
between CPC and TNUA will produce the best lm
center in the country. It is expected to bring brand
new experiences to the people in the terms of lm
screening, film collections and other interactive
activities, he said.
CPC Chairman Gou Tai Chiang said he has a strong
commitment to Taiwan's film industry having taken over the company. As CPC marks its 60th
anniversary this year, Gou said he hopes the project
will become a showcase of how government,
industry and academic resources can be put
together to boost Taiwan's cultural-creative energy.
TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen said many of
TNUA's professors and graduates have devoted
to themselves to the film industry over the years.
In 2012, TNUA signed a five-year cooperation
agreement with CPC, and the two sides have since
set up a lm research center.
TNUA is honored to have the chance to work with
CPC for the Central Taiwan Movie Park project, Prof.
Yang said.
Prof. Hsu Shu-Chu, dean of the School of Film and
New Media, will serve as coordinator for the project
on the TNUA side.
The park is scheduled for completion in 2017.
