TNUA and Kyoto University of Art and Design have signed a memorandum of understanding for expanded exchange.

The MOU was signed by TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen and his Kyoto counterpart, Prof. Kazuo Oike, on behalf of their respective universities at a ceremony held at TNUA on October 3.  

Prof. Yang noted that both sides have been working closely together on many occasions in recent years, having jointly arranged workshops and exhibitions at TNUA's Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts and School of Fine Arts. 

The Kyoto university is also a member of the Asian League of Institutes of the Arts (ALIA) and it hosted the ALIA's annual meeting in 2013, Prof. Yang noted. 

The newly signed MOU is meant to expand exchange the scope of mutual cooperation and exchange, and increase the opportunities for interactions between different areas of art, Prof. Yang said.  
In the face of fast internationalization of higher art education, Prof. Yang said, TNUA and its sister schools from around the world have been exploring different forms of exchange and cooperation. 

Apart from regular exchange of students and teachers, and cooperation in arranging exhibitions and performances, TNUA and the Kyoto University of Art and Design will jointly design summer programs on Taiwanese art and culture for students and teachers from TNUA's sister schools in Japan. 

Prof. Oike, who was on his first-ever visit to TNUA, said he was pleased to sign the MOU, expecting it to bringing more exchange between the two universities. 

Prof. Oike also took part in the 2014 ALIA Symposium in Taipei taking place at TNUA.
