A delegation from the TNUA School of Music visited Singapore's Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in November.

During their one-week visit, which started on November 9, the 25-member delegation, headed by Prof. Rung-Shun Wu, dean of the School of Music, took part in symposiums, master classes and gave two concerts.

Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, which is under the National University of Singapore, offers full scholarships to its students. They come from more than 70 countries (mostly in Asia) and local students account for less than one fourth of the conservatory's entire student body.

Prof. Wu noted that such overseas visits and performances enhance academic exchange and resources sharing. These activities also allow students to experience different cultures, broadening their understanding of the world, and building a bridge for international academic exchange.

Apart from Prof. Wu, there were also other School of Music faculty members in the delegation to Singapore: Prof. Yang Tsung-Hsien, Prof. Ma Shui-Long, Prof. Wang Mei-Ling, Prof. Nancy Tsung, Prof. Ma Ting-Yi and Prof. Victor Coo from the Department of Music; and Prof. Wang Hsi-Jong from the Department of Traditional Music.

The Singapore conservatory extended a warm welcome and gave an introduction to its development to the TNUA visitors.

Prof. Ma gave a talk on composition on November 10, while Prof. Tsung and Prof. Coo also conducted master classes giving one-on-one instruction to students. The TNUA professors and students performed in two concerts on November 12 and 14 respectively.
