The Kuandu Film Festival arranged a forum between students and teachers from TNUA and two other institutions from France: La fémis (École nationale supérieure des métiers de l'image et du son) and Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains.
Both French institutions are under France's Ministry of Culture.
Prof. Julie Tingaud, who is in charge of international exchange at La fémis, said all of her school's teachers are professionals from the film industry, and many of its students are from other countries in Europe, Asia and America.
La fémis has its major focus on conventional narrative films and a strong emphasis on all kinds of film production skills in its curriculum.
La fémis is a benchmark film school in France, and those it has trained over the years have won numerous awards in various domestic and international film festivals, she noted.
Its alumni include some of the big names in the film industry, such as Jean Reno, Theodoros Angelopoulos, Louis Malle and François Ozon.
Prof. François Bonenfant from Le Fresnoy noted that his institution was formerly a leisure complex housing cinema, ballroom dancing, skating horse riding facilities.
Collaboration between the Ministry of Cuture and the city authorities of Tourcoing turned it into a contemporary art center.
As a higher education institution, Le Fresnoy has produced numerous important artists who are active on the world stage. The film works it has produced are known for their experimental elements, the professor said.
At this year's Kuandu Film Festival, 19 films from the two French institutions were screened, including: "Lettres du voyant," "Not Eye," "Run," and "Exile."
