The second leg of the TNUA 30th Anniversary Concert took place at the National Concert Hall on December 11, featuring a chamber music performance by Prof. Shien-Ta Su, chairperson of the Department of Music, and his colleagues.
The concert entertained the audiences with a number of works, including: Prof. Ching-Mei Lin's “Invocation”; Beethoven's “Septet in E-flat major, op. 20”; and Franck's “Piano Quintet in F Minor, op. 14.”The perfect performances won strong applause from the audience.
The musicians playing in the concert were: pianists Mei-Ling Wang and Mei-Ling Chien; violinists Shien-Ta Su, Cheng-Tu Su, Nancy Tsung and Lee Guin-Ying; violists Ho Chen-hung and Chao Yi-Wen; cellists Chu-Chuan Celine Liu and I-Ching Cheng; double bassist Han Han Cho; clarinetist Wei-Leng Chen; bassoonist I-Hsiu Chen; French horn player Yen-How Chen; percussionist Shih-Shan Wu; and soprano Mewas Lin.
“Invocation”was written by Prof. Lin specifically for the concert – a quartet combining the vocal, violin, piano and percussion. Inspired by indigenous people's prayers, the piece is a tribute to TNUA's roots in the tradition and its innovative spirit, as well as a blessing for TNUA on its 30th anniversary.
The first leg of the TNUA 30th Anniversary Concert was a performance by the university's orchestra and chorus, conducted by Lu Shao-chia also at National Concert Hall on December 3.
The TNUA Department of Music stages various concerts every year to showcase its achievements in teaching and to reach out to the community.
