Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA) Shared Campus Collaboration Program Course –Critical Ecologies- -Land, Art, and Sustainability is led by Professor I-Wen Chang, Chairperson of International MA Program in Studies of Arts and Creative Industries( SAC). This course brings together students from TNUA, Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), and LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore for an intensive program in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from February 8 to 16.


During this course, students engage in in-depth learning with international students and artists, exploring local knowledge and ecological practices while seeking connections between humans and the environment. The program includes visits to institutions and artist studios such as Bakudapan, Merapi Volcanology Centre, Cultural Centre Merapi, Wonolelo Village, Community-Sekolah Pangesangan,coastal village of Potrowangsan, Ruang MES 56, and KUNCI Cultural Studies Center.

While getting the chance to visit all these amazing places, the students were also fortunate to engage in exchanges and learning experiences with local artists and curators, such as Fitriani Dwi Kurniasih, Riar Rizaldi, BM Anggana, Bayu Widodo, and Anang Saptoto. The course aims to help students understand the relationship between humans and the environment from a global Perspective, enhance creativity and collaboration skills, deepen their understanding of Indigenous communities and international peers, and produce a compelling artistic project.
