TNUA and nine other universities jointly showcased their publications at the 2024 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TiBE) that took place from February 20-25.

TNUA was at TiBE along with National Chung Hsing University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Central University, National Cheng Kung University, National Chengchi University, National Tsing Hua University, National Taiwan Ocean University, National Taiwan University of Arts, and Fu Jen Catholic University, which took part in the joint-university publication showcase for the first time.

TNUA organized several talks to promote its new books. The first, which took place on the morning of February 21, presented a book resulting from a project jointly conducted with the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs to document traditional Taiwanese music performances. The talk featured Prof. Fan Yang-Kun and Prof. Hsu Ya-Hsiang, as well as a live beiguan performance by musicians from Gong Yue Hsuan and students from TNUA.

The second talk that took place on the afternoon of February 21 highlighted a digitalized guide to learning nanguan music by Prof. Lin Po-Chi from the Department of Traditional Music.

Among the titles exhibited by TNUA was “The Orphan in 1399,” a play written by Ji-Wen Lee based on a Chinese classic play, “The Orphan of Zhao,” from the 13th century. Li and Prof. Chang Chi-feng from TNUA were engaged in a discussion at TiBE about the play, which is part of an original drama series edited by Prof. Yu Shan-Lu from the Department of Theatre Arts.

Collections of original play scripts written by TNUA students was also on display. The first collection was already published in 2022, and the second one will be published in 2024. A playwright, Kuo Chia-Wei, and his team read their script aloud at TiBE, and also discussed it with Prof. Yu.

Prof. Jung Shu-Hwa’s new book about applied theatre was also on display. It is a systematic presentation of her years of experience in theatre education. There was also a panel discussion featuring the author and Prof. Liu Chung-lin from Feng Chia University.

There was another talk about a new collection of poems written by Prof. Hu Hwai-Chen from the School of Humanities. Prof. Hu talked about how Taiwanese myths inspired his poetry in a discussion with cultural researcher Mr. Wei-Hsiung Chan.

A new book by Prof. Chiou Bor-Shuenn from the School of Culture Resources is a systematic case study on Han architecture from the perspective of Feng Shui.
