The PhD Program in Cultural Heritage and Arts Innovation Studies, which regularly runs TNUA brown bag series, invited Fernando Schmidt, the trade commissioner of ProChile Taiwan, to present the new vision of Chile in the first brown bag forum of the semester, which took place on October 17, 2022.
During the session titled “Chile Creating Future – Discover Chile,” Mr Schmidt led the audience to explore Chile, a country that seems far away but is actually closely linked to Taiwan, from new perspectives such as creative arts and technology innovation.
Chileans’ tremendous creative energy has been proven with their outstanding talents and recognition of major awards. Mr Schmidt mentioned a number of names including Chilean renown poet Gabriela Mistral, who received Noble Prize in Literature in 1945, as well as Historia de Un Oso, a short animated film released on 2014, that received the Academy Award for Best Short Film.
Mr Schmidt also introduced three Chilean unicorn companies, the wellbeing benefits platform Betterfly, the artificial intelligence powered food company NotCo and the grocery delivery company Cornershop as examples to illustrate that Chile has made great achievements in entrepreneurship and technology innovation.
In this session, the audience was able to re-discover the multiple facets of Chile and highly impressed with Chile’s vibrant energy in creating a better future.
