Students and teachers from TNUA’s Department of Theatre Arts have taken part in the second Asia-Pacific Bureau Drama Schools Meet in India in an exchange activity that gathered over 300 participants from 13 schools in the area.
The TNUA team departed for New Delhi on January 1 to participate in the seven-day festival that featured various stage performances, workshops and forums from January 3 to 9.
The seven-member team was led by Prof. Chyi-Wen Yang, dean of the School of Theatre Arts and included six graduate students who started preparing for the event in September 2010 under the guidance of Prof. Tin-Ni Ma.
They created a brand new 50-minute play, and rehearsed two to three days a week for at least four hours each time.
The play, based on the ancient idea of the four humors – body fluids that dictated human personalities – was one of very few works at the festival that were collectively created by students. It received very good reviews.
Apart from the drama presentation, the TNUA team also took part in workshops with other participants of the event, during which they showed their passion and vitality.
They said the event allowed them to experience diffe-rent ways of learning and look at theatre from other perspectives.
