TNUA has started constructing a new building housing teaching and research facilities for theatre arts, dance, film and new media, with completion slated for May 2013.
A ground-breaking ceremony, presided over by TNUA President Prof. Ju, Tzong-Ching, was held on July 22 for the project aimed at elevating TNUA’s arts teaching facilities to international standards. It project is a demonstration of TNUA’s determination to becoming one of the first-rate universities internationally.
Prof. Ju noted that with the devotion of all teachers and students TNUA has achieved tremendous success in recent years and won wide recognition. With these achievements as the foundation, TNUA is realizing its dream of owning such a new building, he said.
He told the ceremony that the project is outlining all future possibilities for the Schools of Theatre Arts, Dance, and Film and New Media. He said he hopes the building can be unveiled by the beginning of School Year 2013 to serve the needs of all related departments.
Joining Prof. Ju at the ground-breaking ceremony were: Prof. Chyi-Wen Yang, dean of the School of Theatre Arts; Prof. Heng Ping, dean of the School of Dance; Prof. Chu Teh-I, dean of the School of Film and New Media; Prof. Shaw-Ren Lin, dean of the Office of Research and Development; Mr. Chen Yue-hung, dean of general affairs; Secretary General Mey-Juane Kuo; Prof. Shu-Gi Cheng, chairman of the Department of Dance; Prof. Wang Tung, chairman of the Department of Filmmaking; Prof. Liu Hsi-Chuan, chairman of the Department of Fine Arts; and other school officials.
The 21.4-meter high building located near the school’s front gate will house one underground level and four stories above ground. Occupying land totaling 3,039 square meters, it will have a total floor space of 10,132 square meters to house 11 practice rooms, 31 classrooms, two conference rooms, 11 research rooms and one library.
