Prof. Ju begins another 4-year term as president

Prof. Ju, Tzong-Ching on August 1 started another fouryear term as TNUA’s president, continuing his efforts to
turn the university into an arts education institution living up to international standards.Presiding over a ceremony marking the inauguration of newly-elected or reelected presidents for national universities on July 31, Education Minister Cheng Juicheng lauded Prof. Ju for organizing a TNUA team that produced the successful opening ceremony of the World
Games 2009 in Kaohsiung.He also noted Prof. Ju’s various other achievements leading TNUA, as well as the National Theater Concert Hall.Prof. Ju was reelected to another four-year term as president during a school affairs meeting last year,
winning more than three fourths of votes.According to Prof. Ju, TNUA is planning to build new classrooms for dance and theater students, and to new buildings for the School of Fine Arts and the School of Culture Resources. TNUA is also planning to set up a new school for film and art technologies. Prof. Ju has vowed to continue building a unique
environment for teaching students and nurturing artistic creativity; implementing a sound educational system incorporating digitalized learning and management; and bridging different fields and nations, so as to let arts education take root and TNUA become a university of international stature.




Kuandu Arts Festival to kick off with ‘joy’

The Kuandu Arts Festival 2009 will kick off with a bang in October, with artists from all over the world sharing the
‘joy” – the theme of this year’s event – to be created by almost 100 shows and productions of various kinds.
Artists from Israel, Britain, France, Australia, US,Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, China and Hong Kong
will demonstrate their arts through works of theatre,dance, music, film and technology.
A film festival will screen works by Taiwan’s young filmmakers, as well as award-winning films. Special
features will include Israeli film, “The Summer of Avia,” and British film, “Forward Motion.”
There will be many smaller outdoor experimental performances around the campus (at such venues as
the 929 Open Theatre and the Lotus Pond Stage) where visitors will be pleasantly surprised by the demonstration
of creativity.TNUA will also jointly organize with the Kuandu Temple an arts contest for all of Taiwan’s university students.
