Activities to mark 25th anniversary
A series of activities, including an arts
festival, will take place in October to allow TNUA students, staff, and the
general public to get together to mark TNUA’s 25th anniversary.
The activities:
Kuandu Arts Festival: It is the most
important annual arts event in Kuandu that TNUA organizes in October. The almost
month-long festival usually attracts more than 50,000 people to performances by
local and foreign artists, and exhibitions at the University’s Kuandu Museum of
Fine Arts. This year, the Taiwanese Opera troupe Ming Hwa Yuan will kick off
the festival with an outdoor performance. The festival will run from October 6
till 28, featuring 31 performances of music, dance, theatre and opera, three exhibitions,
and 15 lectures.
Conference of the world’s academic
institutions for the arts: TNUA will host a conference of presidents and deans
from 25 academic institutions for the arts—including the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago, and Austria’s Universitaet fuer Musik und Darstellende
Kunst Wien—from 20 countries between October 18 and 20. The conference will
probe the latest trends in the world of arts.
Anniversary day: Festivities are expected to climax on October 20, during which fairs and “street performances” will take place from morning till night, turning TNUA into Taiwan’s “Place du Tetre.” A ceremony will be held to confer honorary doctorate degrees on famous composer Prof. Ma Shui-Long; Cloud Gate Dance Theatre founder Mr. Lin Hwai-min, and renowned theatrical set designer Prof. Ming Cho Lee. The ceremony will be held at the Arts Forum with the night view of the Kuandu Plain as its backdrop.
